With the release of Rubick The Grand Magus in the previous months, many have speculated the different roles he could contribute to a new metagame in DotA. With that said, they are referring to the hero’s Spell Steal ability which can copy/steal an ability from another enemy hero.
Spell Steal Description
Rubick studies the trace magical essence of one enemy hero, learning the secrets of the last spell the hero cast. Rubick can use this spell as his own for several minutes or until he dies.
Ability Type: Active
Targeting Type: Unit
Allowed Targets: Enemy Hero
Ability Hotkey: Q
Casting Range: 1000
Duration: 3/4/5 minutes
Mana Cost: 25
Cooldown Time: 20/18/16
One must note that this spell is lost at the end of the duration, when Rubick dies, or when Rubick uses Spell Steal again, and this ability cannot steal item abilities. Even with that exception, Rubick is still an imbalance hero that can do multiple roles and can bring tide-turning game to players. Well, here is a list of unstealable abilities one must take note:
